Premier to-day laid on the table of the House a statement, of the financial position of the Dominion from March olid. last, to January I'.bd. The revenue under various heads was £S,7I 8,004, and the actual expenditure brought, to account for the fen months was £B,UdlV.t'.m, The Premier estimates the revenue for the unexpired two month:? at, and expenditure at .1"" J., 127S,SML. This will be for the whole year, revenue £n,O2V*2S •.'xpenditure £.IO,:*:W,SM surplus of revenue over expenditure. .£GS:> r -47•!. To this should he added the balance, at March .'list, It'll, .■£iiS6,4S3 less £500,(100 to bo transferred to the Public Works account. Referring to the increase of revenue the statement says the continual increase in the revenue of (he country is most gratifying. affording proof of the Dominion's remarkable prosperity, and financial strength. On March :Ust r 101 i, the available ways ami means for public works purposes were .£1.140,1 M."i. ami (excluding moneys obtained for the redemption of mature ing loans) additional funds have been received as under: Under the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act, ]!>10, .£lSl,<>nO; under the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act, 1911, £:>a0,00(); transferred from Consolidated Fund X'Jf.O.OiHt; miscellaneous receipts Xo2e. r > : making a total for the ten months of ■£1",027,960. A further transfer will bo made from the Consolidated Fund of .£250,000 making a gross total available for the year 3:11 1- L' of £2,177,900. The cNpondituro under appropriations for the ten months (excluding separate account having ways and means of their own), was XL-Cm. 04 7, and a further expenditure of .£Gf>l>,()70 -■-total £2,1L5,7]7 -is estimated for the remainder of the year, leaving an estimated balance on March :?lst next of Xr.:>,:.M.L T o this will have to be added the balance of the 1911 loan yet to be raised £1.150,000. and the authorised loan under the Aid to Waterpower Works Act, 1910, .£500,000; total £1,050,000. making an estimated total available for next year of .£1,709.243.
