IMPORTANCE OF GOOD MILKING.
In a recent book on the management of cattle, the importance of good milking is insisted upon. Not only does good milking mean that the milking will be taken in a clean condition and with reasonable despatch from the cow, but it also means that the yield will be maintained for a snnger period. The skilled milker will obtain in the course of the year a much larger return than the less proficient operator, who may be dilatory and lack interest in his work. The writer referred to contends that the milk is best withdrawn by who find pleasure in their work, and as far as may be practicable the same person should always milk the same cows. Anyone who has an aversion to milking cows should not be employed, as he will fail to perform the work with the diligence and carefulness which are essential to the best results. Many a farmer knows from his own experience the difference upon the milk yield due to the manner in which the milking process is performed, and this knowledge, more than considerations of expenditure begets the wish that an efficient milking machine were available.
