PAEMAKO.

Own Correspondent. On the 2nd inst. the Paemako people held their concert and dance in aid of the Congregational Church. The weather seemed specially provided for the occasion, and there was a good muster present. It generally surprises visitors to these sparsely settled districts to see the number that turn out and they wonder where the people come from. There was about 100 all told. The programme was good, and the performers delighted the large assemblage. Space would not permit of my giving each item in detail. The following were the performers: — Song, Mrs Smith; song, Mr Anderson; duet, Mrs and Miss Hellems and Miss Butcher; song, Mr H. Smith; song, Mr A. Wallace; song, Mr D. Johnston; song, Mr W. Innes; sailor hornpipe, Mr J. Clarkin; Mr B. McKay performed some good juggling; May Huia and Noe Pairamn ' the' Maori Poi song; all of the performers having to respond by additional items. The accompaniments were skilfully played by Mrs Potts, the music for the dance being supplied by Messrs Johnston, Innes, Anderson and Asplin. Credit is due to the ladies who catered for the supper, and also to those who catered for the supper, and also to those who worked so'well. On all hands the entertainment was voted the best yet held in Paemako.
