FATALITY AT PIO PIO.
YOUNC MAN DROWNED
A deplorable accident: occurred at Tie l'io 011 Wednesday afternoon as a result, of whieli a young man named Charles Stag);, aged 'l'.l, lost Ilia life by drowning. The young fellow was engaged in looking after Mr 11. E. Lewis' eoaeli borne!* and liad t.alccn thejj ito the river to wafer. Deceased was riding, and wont into the river to drive the hordes out. when bin mount suddenly sank. The horse rose without the rider and hi gan plunging and then swam in a circle. Stage was not seen again, and though acareful search has been made for the body it. has not yet. been discovered. The whole occurrence was witnessed by a son of Mr W. P. Hat t away, who was bathing in (he river at the tune. As noon as lie realised an accident had oc» eurrt'd the lad ran for assistance, which was on hand in si\ or seven minutes. The neighbours made effort, to discover the body w £.h a view to applying restorative measures, but after a strenuous search were forced to conclude that the current, had carried the body some distance away from the locality. A search has been kept op (or ihe past three days, but so far v,iik>>nl result.
