RACING.

Further arrangements in connection with the forthcoming meeting were completed at a meeting held on Wednesday last, and everything is in train for a successful gathering. The tender of the Oparure Brass Band was accepted for the music.

The committee visited the course on Thursday, and upon a thorough inspection general satisfaction was expressed at the manner in which the work on the course bad been carried out. The buildings are all completed and the grandstand is generally admired. It is thorouhgly well built and without being ornate presents an excellent apearance, which is enhanced by its surroundings of bush antf river and green sward. The interior appointments are of the best, ample provision being made for the pulbic and for the club officials. It is gratifiyng to note that the work of putting Te Kumi station in good order is to be placed in hand immediately. Major Lusk, president of the club, in reply to representations made by him having received an intiamtion to that effect from the District Engineer. The loading bank is to be put in, the yards repaired and the approaches put in good order. This is excellent news for the show people as well as the racing club as the work was of the highest importance in view of the approaching agricultural show.
