RACING.
Several horses which are to compete at the local gathering have arrived, and work on the course is being accomplished every day. The track is in excellent order, and with a continuance of fine weather will be first-class by the time the race day arrives. The distances are now marked off, and the work of erecting the starting barriers is in hand. The Takapuna Cup resulted in the tirumph of a solid favourite in Suultoria. From the time the weights were issued the mare was picked as a popular fancy, and she fully justified the confidence in winning cleverly by three parts of a length. There was not a great deal to spare as the light weights, La Reina and Jollie Fille, battled it out in good style to the finish. The second day of the Takapuna Jockey Club's meeting produced some good racing. The Jockey Club Handicap was won by Gloy (Gluten —Did), who came at the right end of and beat Electrakoff and Jollie Fille in a good finish.
