The trees should be set a little leeper in the soil than they stood in the nursery row, or where previously sjrown. The soil must be worked in underneath| the large roots and ed about them. The top of the tree should be leaned slightly to the iorth-west. This enables the tree to esist the hard north winds and be:ore the end of the first season the tree will be standing in an erect position. It is a good plan to shake ;he tree several times while tamping ;he dirt around the roots and to pour water about the root in order ;o bring the soil in contact with svery bit of root surface.
