THE TERRITORIALS.
The training of Territorials under the new Defence scheme has now been resumed, the E Company (Te Kuiti) holding their first parade for the new year this week. There was a good muster and Captain Burgess, Area Group Officer, is of the opinion that the men have made excellent progress for the short time they have been drilling. Most of the head-quarters companies have now been sworn in, and the work is now in full swing.
During this month Lieut. Price and Stafr-Sergt.-Major Mooney will make a tour of the outlying districts for the purpose of swearing the Territorials and Senior Cadets, and as soon as this is completed work will be begun in earnest in the outer stations. Notices will be issued stating when the officers will visit the various stations, and men should make every effort to attend, as measurement for uniforms will be taken at the same time as the men are and as soon as these are complete requisition will be made to headquarters, and the men will then receive, a full equipment. Captain Burgess has just completed a tour of inspection of No IG. Area, and expresssd his pleasure at the hearty support he has received from all sides, the scheme being very popular all through.
