OTOROHANGA.

Own Correspondent!. The unseasonable weather interfered a good deal with the usual Christmas festivities, although it did not prevent Father Xmas from crawling down the chimneys. The outside roads are very little better than they have been in tho depths jf winter, and the several contractors have been much hampered in their work. We Blvili require a Ion;; autumn to enable them to complete the twelve miles of metalling that they have contracted to do. When all the money that is arranged fur is expended we ehull have really first-class roads outside the township. The Hnttlers are more progressive in their reading policy than tho Town Council. As instancing the amount of work the settlers ;uo putting into their sections, it is estimated that along the Pirongin road v.ithin a radius of three miles there are 130 to 140 acres in Algerian oats and all promising heavy crops. There arn also fairly large areas of potatoes doing well, but the mangolds and pumpkins are rather backward. There is a largo area ready for turnips and wo only want; a few fine, days to enable sowing to be proceeded with.

There ia a meeting on -January 10th to try and arrange an athletic sports gathering and to resuscitate the former sports committee. We used to have excellent meetings hero a few years ago.
