MAROKOPA.
•*• Own Correspondent. A meeting of the Marokopa School Committee was held in the schoolhouse last Saturday evening. A few small accounts were passed for payment. The Inspector's report on the state of the school was read. Under headings 11. and VI., which require Inspector's opinion of the degaee of discretion displayed in the grouping, classification, general organisation and quality of instruction, the report says: "The methods are intelligent and modern; both teacher and pupils evince much enthusiasm." It should also be pleasing to householders that order and discipline and tone of school with respect to diligence, alacrity, obedience and honour, manners and general behaviour of pupils is reported on as "good." Correspondence re school site from the Board of Education was read. It was proposed by Mr Wouldes and seconded by Mr Wiley that the Education Board be asked to forward plan of land (obtained from natives at Marokopa) to School Committee so that they may select a suitable piece of land for a school site. —Carried.
The same evening a successful sports meeting was held. Mr E. C. Stanley was voted to the char, and Mr R. C, Honors was appointed secretary. It was resolved to form a club under the name of the Marokopa Athletic Sports Club, and to hold a sports meeting en Friday, 15th March, 1912. A rough programme was passed, authorising the programme committee to draw up a sutiable programme somewhat similar to last year' 3. It is hoped posters will be ready for distribution early in January. Tenders are to be called for the right to open a booth on the ground (Stanley's paddock) and in the hall.
