CHRISTMAS GIFTS.
TE KUITI DISPLAYS. PRESENTS FOR OLD AND YOUNG. The approach of the festive season brings with it memories and anticipations which stir the hearts of old and young alike. Old associations are remembered and new friendships are bonded the closer, while the outward appreciation of the friendly feeling is made possible bv the natural looseing of restraint and reserve incident to Christmastids. The young people in particular are made happy in anticipation of Christmas morning : the one day the year when stuckings fiiled with objects of wonder and delight are revealed at dawn. Residents of Te Kuiti town and district this year have a very wide choice afforded them the different business places having displayed a rich profusion of presents suitable for old and young. The firm of Messrs Green and Cole-b-ook has, as usual, provided a strikvariety in their various departments, from the material requirements of Christmas fare to choice presents of every description. A.fine display of toys, and fancygoods is to' be seen at Mrs xUacDonald's well-known shop where a huge Christmas Fair is being held. Messrs Dooley and Go's show of good 3 calculated to bring material comfort to the electors of Taumarunui is most attractive and is bound to appeal to housewives generally, as are the displays of Mr Fickling, the well-known baker and confectioner, and Mr -J. Nicholls.
Due attention has also been aid to the season by the soft goods firms, and the premises of Messrs Rosenberg, Lineham, Allison, and Corban all bear witness to the fact that choice apparel and other goods suitable to the saeson can be obtained at reasonable cost.
Christmas presents and toys of every description are specially displayed at Mr Petherick's well-known shop, where a popular feature i 3 a wea'th of choice post cards. The premises of Mr McColl and Messrs Sutton Bros." show wonderful assortments of post cards, while other suitable presents are also stocked. MrFenton, the well-known jeweller, has made a very fine display in hisi new shop many dainty and attractive trinkets suitable for presents being in evidence. The other business people in the town have also responded freely to the occasion, and the residents of both town and country can rely upon being thoroughly satisfied in their desire to keep up to the traditions of the festive Christmas season.
