Prior to tho dcpartnro of Mr C. K. Wilson for Wellington last evening, the ncwly-clccted member for the dia triet, and members of his committee were entertained by Mr J). . \ oung. A very pleasant evening was spent, a number of toasts being honoured and several felicitous speeches made, after which a number of those pre sent accompanied Mr Wilson to the train to wish him luck on his mission to Wellington. Messrs St. Ilill, Rrathwnite and tin. report having held a clearing sab- ol furniture and ciTecUt on account, id Mrs Rodgers. of Hangatiki, on Thura day last. There was a large attend ance of settlers present and practically everything was sold under the hammer at satisfactory prices.
