The Raglan County Council has decided not to impose dog tax in the county this year. The council \a of opinion that aince the collection of the tax on Maori dogs was handed over to Maori Councils the only people the tax was aimed at got off free, and kept as many clogs as they chose, Europeans alone paying the tax. Almost the whole of the revenue drawn from the tax was swallowed up in coilection fees, and under the circumstances members consider it an unjust charge upon th~' ratepayers.
