King Country Chronicle Saturday, December 2, 1911. RAILWAY ACCOMMODATION.
Judging liy tho appearamo of Ta Kuiti railway station there would pcom to bo small grounds for complaint in the matter of railway modation at Tc Kuiti. That caustt for complaint exists no longer i 3 n happy state of tbingj, but it has to bei remembered that much strenuous agitation on the part of the people interested was nccc3sary before anything: was done by tha authorities to relieve the congestion which was a serious evil, and rendered the proper working of tin* station an impossibility. Te Kumi station, in the near future is destined to become tho fcntre of a very big stock loading and! discharging district. In addition it
gives access to Te Kuili racecourse and Agricultural Showgrounds. There is urgent ncei for greatly improved facilities at Te Kumi and we trust tha Railway Department will be indnoed to carry them out without delay. Te Kumi is the station which taps tlioi great stretch of line country of tvliich\ the Arapae is the main road fromi Mairoa to Marokopn, and it will undoubtedly be utilised for the loading and unloading of he majority of stock arriving al, To Kuili. Thai it has not been utilised in the past to any great extent, ih due to the fact that the siding | aceommodat ion is too small to allow ol mure lhan a lew shupp trucks being accommodated at once, and sheeri buyeis have boon forced to detrain, (hen- clock at To Kliiti. An important feature of the case is that the A. and P. Association Show is to be held witnin the next few months, and it is imperative that adequate provision should be made to deal with stock arriving for show purposes. At present no provision exists. We sincerely tru3t the pro'er step 3 will be taken to urge the importance of the matter.
