ELECTION NOTES.

Mr fl. K. Wilson, the Reform Party candidate, addressed a crowded meeting in the Mangapehi Hall on Saturday evening last. Mr Gray, manager for Messrs Ellis and Burnand, being in the chair. The candidate on rising to speak was greeted with rounds of applause. Mr Wilson spoke for about an hour and a half and was listened to with great attention, various partd of the address being received with loud applause. After answering several questions a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence was carried, and the opinion passed that the address from a political standpoint was the best one yet given in the district. The meeting closed with cheers for Mr Wilson. At Dannevirke the Premier addressed a crowded meeting la3t night. He wa3 accorded a hearty welcom;, but during the speech there was occasional interruption. Sir Joseph Ward, however, had no difficulty in present ing his points and his speech was marked with great applause. A motion of thanks arid confidence was declared carried despite the dissent of a section of the public who" had been hostile throughout. After travelling over 1100 miles, 650 being on horseback, during which he spoke on 55 occasions, since leaving Waitara on October 31st, Mr Jennings got to Mokau last night and addressed a public meeting which was largely attended, Mr Nicholls, J.P., presiding. The candidate touched principally on the Mokau enquiry held last session, and the audience was practically in accord with what had been done in regard to opening up the Mokau block, which had been a bar to the progress of the district for so many years as it had so long remained unoccupied. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Jennings was accorded a vote of confidence on the motion of Mr Carr (secretary of the Harbour Board) seconded by Mr Geo.
