AMUSEMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY. The programme produced at Te Kuiti Town Hail on Monday evening last must certainly be classed among the very best given Te Kuiti patrons by the Empire Company. Nothing better has ever been seen for instance, than the Harrison Trcupe of Acrobats" in their more than clever and amusing performance, or the beautiful views shown in "Lakes and Alps of Plitoice." The whole of the programme from start to finish was good, and the ia r ge audience present were not slow in bestowing upon it the applause it fully merited. For next Monday evening's exhibition, the great masterpiece, "Back to the Primitive," is to be included, ihe story opens on an ocean liner between Southampton and Capetown, and beautiful ocean views and life on board the big steamer are shown. Then the steamer crashes on to the rocks and becomes a total wreck, the tw« principals in the plot being cast away on a desolate part of Africa. They are seen buffeting the waves on a frail raft, then cast up on the beach. Thrilling adventures wiHi natives and wild lions follow, and interest in this great picture is kept at fever-heat right to the finish. It is said to abound in scenes of beauty and solitude, and to be a story that will appeal to all. Besides this big star piece there will be rollicking comedies, Western cowboy stories, scenic, novelty, industrial and various other subjects, all of which are new and direct from the latest importations by John Fuller and Sons.
