LADY WARD CUTS THE RIBBON

Taumarunui This Day. Sir Joseph Ward and party arrived by express at Taumarunui last evening. The town is en fete to-day and a holiday is being observed. The Prime Minister and party proceeded to the bridge across the Ongaruo on the Ivururau road. The bridge, which is a specially fine one cost over £1 200 and will open up about 21,(K)0 acres of country. The Mayor Mr Wackrow, in his remarks, welcomed Sir Jospch Ward cordially. Miss Edna I'earce Ryan presented Lady Ward with a bouquet of roses on behalf of the ladies of Taumarunui. Lady Ward cut the ribbon across the bridge, amidst loud cheers. The Mayoress, Mrs Wackrow, entertained Lady Ward and the councillors' wives, and a few friends, to luncheon. The Prime Minister and party were entertained at luncheon by the Borough Council.
