The compulsory taking over ox the control of the Taumarunui Hospital is proving an item of considerable expense to the Waikato Board. The report of the working of the institution during the past month shows that during the whole of that period there were only four patients in the hospital each for a tew days averaging one patient for 17 days. The fees from these amounted to £2 ss, while the wages for the staff of three amounted to £25, in addition to which is added £l7 for supplies, so that the board is out of pocket to the extent of about £4O on the month's working.
