PAEMAKO.
Own Correspondent. A basket social, concert and dance, in aid of the Catholic Church, held in the Paemako School on Octboer 27th, was a successful function. There was a large audience, including visitors from a distance, as well as from surrounding districts. The programme presented was one of the best ever put forward in the district and performers delighted the large assemblage, every item being enthusiastically received and in each instance an encore insisted on. Space would not permit of my giving each item in detail. The following ladies and gentlemen were the performers:—'Messrs Clark in, Miss N. Churcher, Mr J. R. Daly, Mr James Lindsay, Mr William Chambers, Mr Martin Anderson, Mr Frank Ream, Mr Ellis, and Mr Johnston. Th°. sum of £9 10s was got for the baskets and from the sale of tickets will bring the amount altogether over £2O. The committee of ladies was fortunate in having Mrs James Slines at the head of affairs, as she worked very hard and to her great credit is due. I must not forget to congratulate the ladies who catered for the supper and also those who worked so well in getting the supper served. The music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs Ellis and John3ton (violins), and Mr James Slines carried out the duties of M.C. in his usual pleasing manner. Mr J. R. Daly,, of the Managotaki, was all there as the auctioneer, selline- the baskets. The following ladies supplied baskets-Mrs O'Dwyer, Mrs Harwood, Mrs J. •Anderson, Mrs Jamas Slines, Miss Slines, Miss F. Slines, Miss Simcock, Mis 3 Trust, Miss Kilmartin, Miss K. Kilmartin, Misa Charkin, Miss McDonald, Miss McLaughlin,
