TE KUITI RACING CLUB

A meeting of the committee of Te Kuiti Racing Club was held in the secretary's office on Friday evening last.

Five tenders for the erection of the grandstand and outbuildings on the course were received and dealt with — J. E. O'Regan £896, McDonald and Co. £B6B, D. Fletcher £S24, G. Hitchcock £BIB, and W. Fullerton £782. It was derided to accept W. Fullerton's tender. A letter was received from the secretary of the Country Racing Association, asking for £3 10s proportion of expenses in connection with the recent conference and the Gaming Amendment Bill. —-It was decided that the letter be received and further enquiries made.

The appointment of a starter was further deferred.

With respect to the purchase of the freehold of the ground it was resolved that the matter shou'd take precedence over all other matters of expenditure after the completion of the works now in hand, and that a sum he set aside for the purpose as soon as funds are available.

The following new members were elected:-—Messrs Sarah, Trevarthen, Spencer, Boscawen, Riches, Short, Bartleman, Gates and Arrowsniith. BOWLING. At the last committee meeting of the Te Kuiti Bowling Club, Mr Joseph Jennings was appointed caretaker, his duties to commence on November 6th. A match committee consisting of Messrs Jones, Lissaman and Spencer has been appointed. The following have kindly donated trophies for club matches: —Messrs Stevens (president), Lissaman, and Cochrane. Mr Lissaman's donation is a pair of bowls,and Mr Cochrane's silver ferns, to be given for teams matches.

The official opening of Te Kuiti green has not yet been definitely decided.

The club secretary has been instructed to post a notice intimating that subscriptions now due must be paid by November 30th. CROQUET.

The following new members have been added to Te Kuiti Croquet Club: —Mesdames Cullen, Patterson, Boles, A. C. Johnson and Walsh.
