ELECTION NEWS.
ROLLS CLOSE IN FORTNIGHT,
Delay in claiming enrolment on the part of persons qualified to vote at the general elections would now be most inadvisable, as it is probable that the supplementally rolls will be closed in less than three weeks. The present position is that Parlament has been prorogued until November 20th, but it expires on November 21st, and within seven days of that date the Governor will direct the clerk of writs to proceed with the elections. The warrant will probably be given immediately after the expiry of Parliament, and the writs will be issued without delay. It is therefore most likely that the supplementary rolls will be closed at 6 p.m. on November 23rd, after which no claims for enrolment can be considered. The writs are returnable in 21 days, so that; the probable date of the second ballot, December 13tb, will come within the three weeks following November 23rd.
