MEETING OF OLD IDENTITIES.

The above meeting convened by Mr A. Julian, of Te Kuiti, was held in the Chronicle office last evening. A very fair number were present and letters were received from several who were not able to be at the meeting, but who were in entire accord with the movement and who promised to further the scheme as far aa they possibly could. Those present formed themselves into a committee to farther the initial stages of the scheme. Mr Julian was unanimously elected chairman of committee.

It was resolved that "An Oid Identities' Association" be formed, and that the officers consist of a president and seven vice-presidents, secretary and treasurer.

Mr A. Julian was unaniously elected president Messrs J. W. Ellis, C, J. Johnson (Otorohanga), Richard Cashel (Ongarue), John Old (Mahoenui), C. J. Ryan (Taumarunui), Robert Cashel and P. R. Golebrook were elected vicepresidents. Mr J. Tamtnadge was appointed secretary.

It was resolved that those present should meet at an early date and set up a committee representing the various district.

The meeting decided to circularise members who are eligible to join the association, stating in the circular that it had been decided to form an association and it was proposed to hold a function on a date to be arranged. It was resolved that the next meeting be held on Friday, November 3rd, at 7.30 p.m.

Mr Jennings, M.P., leas informed the residents of Taumarunui, through the local paper, that the kaianga restrictions have been removed.

We regret to hear thai; Professor Swallow is lying very seriously ill, and grave fears for his life are entertained. The weather of the last week, has been peculiarly trying to a!i elderly people. At the time of going to press Mr, Swallow is slightly better. Mr J. Ivess, o:<-M.P., has announced his intention of contesting the YVaimarino seat at the forthcoming election. The Inangahua Times (Reefton) reports, on reliable authority, that a discovery at Snow river, near Waiuta, will open up a new line of reef two miles nearer the railway than Waiuta. Already the ground bristles with pegs.
