A committee meeting of the above club was held in Mr Short's odice. lust evening. The conditions of the. Howard Shield were discussed and as iit was considered that tne, rules governing the Shield competition were not sufficiently definite it wi? resolved that it be a recommendation to thuse interested to hold a meeting at an early date and discuss these rules. Mr N. C. Matthew was elected cap tain and selector for the season. Messrs Wallace and Bartleman were appointed delegates to the King Country Association. The secretary was instructed to purchase six dozen tennis balls. Mesrss Short and Matthew were appointed a sub-committee to draw up rules. It was decided to hold a ladder competition for both ladies and men. The ladies of the club are. asked to make arrangements for afternoon tea on Saturday next, this being the opening day.
