AMUSEMENTS.

DRUIDS' SOCIAL

I The Druida' social last Wednesday ! evening was favoured with fine I weather and there was a very fair i number present, all of whom ap- ; peared to enjoy themselves thoroughly. I All through the present winter the I Druids have attempted to provide a ! very high-class social, and the support I which has been received furnishes ample proof that their efforts have been amply appreciated. The committee of ladies and gentlemen which form the social committee have run things on very good lines with the ; natural result thai; the dances have i become vpry popular. The music was supplied by Messrs J. Hetet (piano) and D. Hetet (violin) in their usual pleasing manner, and the floor had undergone a thorough preparation. Bro. E. C. Tassel! acted as M.C., and at the supper adjournment, announced that the first annual ball would be held on October 18th, and that elaborate preparations were being made to make the affair a memorable one in the history of the lodge. He trusted that all those present would inform their friends of the fact, and that a record attendance of dancers would be

present. Trie price of admission would be at the nominal sum of Double tickets ss, gent's 3s, and ladies' 2s. There will also be something new in the shape of a mock initiation ceremony prior to the Grand March.

PRINCESS PICTURES

The popularity of the entertainment i presented by the Princess Pictures was again evidenced by a large audiI ence last Thursday evening. A capi- ! tal programme was submitted. Interesting scenic, industrial, dramatic, and comic subjects were screened, of which the audience showed marked approval. The programme includeed a fine drama, entitled "Jim Bridger's Indian Bride." A special attraction is announced for next Thursday (October sth). This is a film 3000 feet entitled "A Tale of the Australia Bush." All the sensational incidents connected with the life of Ben Hall and others are graphically described, and the story which has been prepared by Me P. W. Maroney is full of dramatic and exciting situations. The picture has been produced under the supervision of the Australian Life Biograph Co., and is said to be of a most thrilling character. Mr Zainey has gone to a lot of expense to place this film before his Te Kuiti patrons, and it is hoped that they will show their appreciation.

EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY. The programme to be presented by the above company at the Te Kuiti Town Hall on Monday evening has been drawing very large audiences in Hamilton during the past week. Great interest being centred in a fine series of snapshots of "The Launch of H.M.S. New Zealand," and the scene durig the christening of the Dominion's gift battleship by Lady Ward, also a beautiful series of coloured pictures of a large cocoanuc plantation, which are described by the press aa the finest things of their kind ever seen in Hamilton.
