Bv To'.C'-rrapll.- I'res- As.-;-a ! imi. roryn-lu Received September jl.oO p.m. London, Yesterday. The Railwaymen's Executive, not receiving any reply from the companies, has declared a general strike on the Irish railways. The railway clerks of Cork have declined the request of the companies to assist in handling baggage and goods. A meeting of the Cork Chamber of Commerce has requested ihe Government to take action to enable the companies to maintain the services. There has been a slight improvement in the train services. There are complaints of intimidation. A number of workers' houses in Dublin and a workers tram have had their windows smashed. In the southern districts the mobs at Tralee stoned the localities.^ A force of artillery has arrived at Waterford. Lord Aberdeen is returning to Dublin forthwith. The timber merchants have announced that unless the strikers return forthwith their places will be filled. Work has been resumed.
