NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.
On 11th inst. I held n very successful clearing sale at Lowgarth on account of Mr F. H. Hooper. The cows were in good condition and met with keen competition from the large attendance of buyers present. Young grade Jersey cows made from £8 5s to £l9 10s, later £5 to £7 10s, empties £3, springing heifers £7 to £lO 10s, bull £lO, sows with litter £4 10s to £6 2s 6d, boar 255, sundries sold well.
On the 12th at my usual fortnightly sale at Rahotu there was only a small yarding, principally of young stock which realised good prices. Yearling steers made 39s to 445, yearling heifers 41s 6d to 53s 6d, poor condition 19s to 295, springing heifers£4 5s to £7 10s 6d, store cows £3 5s to £3 10s, bull £4. On the 13th I held a clearing sale on account of Mr James Allen, at Mr H, Purdie's farm, Waitara road, where, despite the wet weather, there was a good attendance of the public. The cows were in poor condition, and sold as follows: —Cows in milk and clpse to profit £5 10s to £lO 15s, empty £2 8s to £3 10s. bull £G 15s, mixed yearlings, poor 20s, springing heifers £5 15s to £B, mare £27, geldings £l3 10s to £lB, calves 2s 9d tc to 4s Cd.
