! EMPIRE PICTURE COMPANY

The undoubted popularity of moving pictures as an enjoyable and in- :: structive form of entertainment was again in evidence on Monday night, i when the above company produced ; another of the splendid programmes : that we are now in the habit rf luok- ! ing forward to every Monday evening lat the Te Kuiti Hall. The pictures, I as usual, were faultlessly shown, and j the audience showed its appreciation !in no unmistable manner. Next Morii day's fare will include a couple of ! those exciting American stories so popular with picture iovers, entitled "Border Rangers" and "A Central i American Romance," "The King I Opening the Empire Pageant," a late j issue of Pathe's Gazette, "Trooping | the Colours," and "Kingsee in I Bavaria" (two lovely scenic pictures, | "Joachim Murat" and "the Sorceress ;of the Surf," two line dramatic sub- ! jects, and the following amusing I comics: "Tontolini Bassoon," "Midi night Marauders," "A Widow's Choice," and "A Darling Confusion." On Thursday evening next, September 7th, an exhibition will be given I at Otorobanga.

DRIVER

Last evening, in Te Kuiti Public Hall, Driver, the Magician, appeared before a splendid audience, and, as on his previous visit, succeeded to absolutely mystify those present by his many acts of so-called magic. His cabinet materialisation acts were followed very closely by his committee but they failed to gain any light or information as to his methods of execution. The whole programme was very neatly gone through, and was one that could not fail to impress his audience with the fact that Driver is certainly in the first flight of magicians now touring.
