A TOURISTS ADVENTURE.

A tourist tells the following story of an adventure he met with in South Ireland. He writes :

Being a bachelor, my luggage consisted of a handbag, light overcoat, and an umbrella. Thus equipped I started for Dublin by boat, where I had a few delightful days ; then on to Limerick by train ; and from there to Cork, where the adventure, I am about to relate took place. Upon the night in question I had engaged a bed at the hotel close to the quay, as I intended leaving early in the morning by boat for livcrpool, and being very tired I turned in soon after 9.30 p.m. I must have been aslcep some considerable time when I awo'.'.e to find tha chambermaid standing by my bedside with a lighted candle in her hand. She seemed in great distress, and said, "Oh,

please sir, do get up and come along with me, I have shown you in the wrong room, and the lady is kicking up such a fuss about it."

Now here was a nice situation t.c be in, but I had no intention ol turning out, and toid her so. She thereupon whipped v.p my clothes, which I had placed on a chair beside the bed, and next thing I saw was her vanishing through the door with my clothes on her arm. I had perforce to follow her in double-quick time, and as I bounded along the corridor in my flowing robe, trying to keep the candle in view, a door suddenly opened and an old lady in a night-cap peeped out. On seeing me she slammed the door with a blood-curdling yell. A few more yards brought me to the desired goal, where I found the chamber maid convulsed with laughter. She showed my my new sleeping abode, and disappeared. I soon again was in the arms of Morpheus.
