FOOTBALL.

MaNIAPOTO RUGBY UNIOxM,

A meeting of the above Union was held in the "Chronicle" office on Wednesday evening last. Mr Worthington occupied the chair.

The Secretary of the South Auckland Union wrote stating that the NewZealand Rubgy Union had aonated a sum of money for the purchase of footballs for competition among schools, and that one was being forwarded for the Maniapoto district. -It was resolved that the Secretary thank the South Auckland Union for their offer. The draw for the schools matches resulted as follows: Managpeehi. Oparure, and Otorohanga v. Te Kuiti. —lt was decided that the schoolmasters interested be interviewed re matters in connection with the competition.

The Thames Union wrote stating that arrangements had been made for a match with the Maniapoto touring team.

On the motion of Messrs Worthington and Lusk the Union's rules as read were adopted.

The Secretary of the King Country Union wrote stating that they were unable to send men to join the touring team. •

It was resolved that should Te Kuiti and Otorohanga teams have to meet again, proceeds from the gate be handed to the funds of the South Auckland Union.

As the Te Kuiti ground was not available for the Oparure-Tanehopuwa match last Saturday, it was decided to arrange a future date for the fixture.

Mr Gabriel Elliott was appointed manager for the touring team. The Secretary, Mr Gresham, requests those players who have rep. jerseys to forward same to him without delay.
