STABBING AFFAIR

j_HY TKLKGHAPII. I'RKSS ASSOCIATION'.] Wellington, This Day. A serious stabbing affray occurred on the Norwegian barque Duncag last night. An altercation terminating in a serious quarrel occurred in the sailors' quarters between a Norwegian sailor and a man named Swanson. The former is alleged to have drawn a long-bladed pocket knife, and to have struck Swanson with it two or three times, a long deep cut on the jaw, and two on the cheek being the result. Five stitches in the larger wound, and two in the others were necessary. The sailor was arrested. The wounded man was not a member of the crew, but intended joining the ship here.
