The prevalence of the kea is noticable in the high lands of Canterbury, and these destructive birds have already been responsible for killing a large number of sheep. It ia stated that the birds attack the sheep mainly in foggy weather, and frequently drive the animals over precipices while hunting them. There is nothing that helps to brighten the family circle and make it attractive like one cheerful member, who refuses to be downhearted when things go wrong, and and who ia always ready to join in fun and amusement.
