AMUSEMENTS.
THE EMPIRE COMPANY. The Empire Picture Co. were again well patronised on Monday evening last, when they presented that splendid picture, "The Cattle Show at Buenos Aires." "The Queen of Hearts," "Through the Clouds," "An Exile's Love," and "The Duke of Aries" filled the dramatic part of the programme, each item being well received. "The Bouquet,' was a very amusing comedy, and caused roars of laughter. " Chinese Amusements" and "Korean Ports" were also well received, while the comics "Fatty Buys a Bath," "Calinp at the Bar," and "Lea and the Latest Fashions" were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The Empire Company has completed arrangements to give two exhibitions weekly at Te Kuiti, viz., on Mondays and Thursdays, producing an entire change of programme on each occasion. On Thursday evening the items will contain among other splendid subects "Shakespeare's great play "She Stoops to Conquer," also several fine scenics "Views of Moscow" and "Historic Spots in Old London." A number of stirring dramas, some sporting pictures and several highly amusing comics. An exhibition will be given in Otorohanga on Friday night. AT THE RINK. On Monday evening last the challenge race between Messrs F. Coles, skater, and N. Aitken, distance runner, resulted in a win for the runner, who covered three miles in the smart time of 15min. 30sec. Considerable excitement prevailed during the race, the skater getting to within two laps of his allotted four miles.
