SHILLING A WORD CABLES.

Melbourne, Yesterday.

The Federal Parliament has been further prorogued until July 26th. A proclamation has been made giving effect to a ten per centum tax on bank notes. Mr Thomas, Postmastergeneral, is considering a shilling a word cable service to England over the Pacific lines. The proposal is to cable to Canada, thence by mail, taking four days.
