AMUSEMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURES. The programme to be produced on Monday evening next at Te Kuiti Town Hall met with a good reception in Hamilton on Wednesday and Friday last, and is said by those who saw it to be one of the very best produced by the Empire Company. "Scientific Bee Farming, showing the whole science of bee farming from beginning to end, with the busy little insects highly magnified is in itself well worth the price of admission. The big Cattle Show at Beunos Aires is also a fine picture, and the scenics are said to be very beautiful. A number of dramas, some travel pictures, and a batch of funny comics are also included. ALEXANDRA RINK. The above rink continues to attract indulgents in this invigorating pastime, and something of extraordinary attraction is promised for Monday evening next. A race is to take place between Mr Coles (skater) and Mr Atkin (Marathon runner), the skater being required to cover four miles to the runner's three. This race, which is the first of its kind held at the rink, should prove a great draw to the general public, as well as skaters, and will no doubt be a very close and exciting event. The management of the rink intend holding a monster fancy dress carnival on Monday, 26th inst., and included in this will be a team-driving competition on skates, for which a good prize is offered. Prizes are also to be given for the best comic, fancy, and most original costumes at the carnival. The,proprietors are doing their utmost to ensure the success of the carnival, and early notice is given in order that those who intend to participate will have ample time to prepare their costumes. Skaters will do well to watch our advertising columns for future announcements in connection with the above.
