(Own Correspond)ts). Waitomo Caves. A very enjoyable plain and fancy dress ball was held at Mr T. Kilminstera residence, Waitomo Caves road, last Friday night. Despite the heavy rain, there w : as a large attendance, and the ballroom was beautifully decorated with palm and flowerss. A handsome design in green and red was carried out across the ceiling. Among the very many handsome costumes worn were: Miss E. Savage, "Roman Dancer"; Miss C. Stilvvell, "Gretchen"; Miss 0. Heppenstall, "Skirtdancer"; Mrs J. Neil3en, Yachting"; Mrs W. Johnstone, Nurse"; Mrs E. Perrin, "Bohemian Girl"; Mrs H. Edmonds, "Rainbow"; Mrs H. Heppenstall, "Plain Jane and No Nonsense"; Mr Ben. Board "Poster"; Mr G. Kilminster, "Jockey"; Mr W. Bauer, "Man-o'-war's man" etc. The music was very ably supplied by Messrs Edmonds, Rogan, Methven, extras by Mrs Johntsone. Songs were contributed by Messrs W. Lee and Rogan; a hornpipe, fling and sworddance by Mr Methven. Dancing was kept up briskly till daylight, when one of the most successful functions ever held in the district was brought to a close with a sumptuous breakfast, which was served in the morning room. The school stove fund, in aid of which the ball was held, very materially benefits.
