The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report:— At Te Awamutu on Saturday, 20th inst. we yarded 320 cattle and 500 sheep. Pricea: fat cows £5 5s to £7 12s 6d, dairy co,v& £o 7s (id to £7 15s, diary heifers in calf £i 10s to £6, 20 month steers £3 4s to £3 Bs, empty cows in fresh condition £3 3s to £3 10s, store cows £2 10s to £3, well grown calves £1 12s to £2 ss, others £1 3s to £1 Ss, fat ewes 14s 7d to 15s (id. f.m. ewes in lamb 6s (id.
At a clearing sate on 22nd, at Pukerirnu, on account of Mr P. Lafolley. Dairy cows made £6 to £ll 15s, an average of £8 Ss.
At Rangiaohia, on account of Messrs Cunningham and Doughty, Dairy cows made £7 0s to £lO, a few aged cows £3 10s to £1 l;"s, .20 month empty heifers £3 3s, empty cows £2 10s to £4 15s, calves £1 Gs, 4 year draught mare £3B, mare and foal £22 10s, unbroken colts £8 to £ls, store pigs 10s Gd to 17s 6d; Holstein and Ayrshire cro=s cows, on account Mr G. Paul, £9 53 to £l2 ss. At Ohaupo, on 23rd, our entry comprised 1457 sheep and 823 cattle. A good demand existed for all classes except calves, for which there was no competition at auction, but a good deal of business resulted afterwards. Forward wethers made 14s 4d, ewes Ss Id to 10s 6d, f.m. ewes in lamb 7s 6d to lis 3d, dairy cows £5 10s to £7 15s, 3 year steers in forward condition £7 7s 6d, 3 year steers £5 7s (kl to £5 16s, 2\ year steers £4 to £4 ss, 20 month to 2 year steers £3 9s to £3 15s, 18 month steers £3 to £3 7s, good strong calves £1 15s to £1 19s, cthres £1 4a to £1 10s, store cows £2 15s to £3 15s, 27 acres of swedes at Kaipaki realised £3 4s per acre.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following from their London office cable under date May ISth:—Butter: Market dull and lower. Total imports into the United Kingdom for week ending Saturday last, 96,000 cwt; for corresponding periods last year 82,000 cwt. The Copenhagen official quotation is three kroners lower. We quote:—'New Zealand butter (salted) 3.065, Danish butter 108s; finest Australian (salted) 965, finest (unsalted) 9Ss, good to fine Australian from 90s to 90s, inferior Australian from 74s to 84s, French 2s per cwt lower.
