Mr Leonard M. Isitt is suing James M. Stewart in the Supreme Court for £IOOO damages for libel, arising out of the publiation of plaintiff's name in the "black list'' of the Traders' Protection Association. Isitt was formerly a Methodist Minister, and is well known as a prohibition lecturer. He is in business in Christchurch as a bookseller. The account for which he was listed was a chemist's bill for six shillings, which he said had been overlooked, and for which he never was asked. Defendant pleaded privilege on the ; ground that the list was sent only to j members of the Association. The j case is proceeding, Christchurch, This Day.
The jury have awarded L. M. Isitt £SOO damages from J. M. Stewart, but some, law points were'reserved.
