Hangatiki.
On Friday evening last, the usual monthly social was held. The function was a huge success, owing to the amount of enthusiasm displayed by the llangatiki residents in providing all that is necessary to make an enjoyable evening in the country district. Mr Austin Simpson was an efficient M.C. The music, rendered by Mr Jack Hetet, left nothing to be desired. Visitors were present from Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu. The evening was brought to a close during the early hours of morning. The delightfully moonlit evening, and the splendid state of the roads, made travelling easy and pleasant for those who came from afar. The Maoris held a football meeting here on Saturday, and hope to have a very stong team this season, having sent in thirty-eight names for registration. A total of 800 sheep were despatched from here on Saturday foi the Ohaupo sale. A proposal has been made to build a public hall at Hangatiki, and a meeting will be held next week, to discuss the desirability of erecting a hall.
