WORK ON AVv A KINO ROAD. STARTING THE RAILWAY. By Telegraph.—Own Corresponent, Wellington, This Day. The Minister for Public Works (Hon. R. McKenize), Mr W. T. Jennings, 1v1.P., and Mr Williams, District Engineer, had a consultation on Saturday, respecting road works in Te Kuiti district. The Minister appeared favourable to crushing stone at the quarry during ths winter months, so as to start metalling on to Pio Pio, Aria, and other places, ts soon as the weather permitted, The Hon. R. McKenzie also instructed tne Engineer to carry on road works during the winter months, when it was possible to do so. The Minister has instructed the Public Works Engineer to prepare grades out from Or.garue, so that he will be able to male a start with railway construction works immediately Parliament authorises a grant this corning session. The Minister, in company with Mr Jennings, will visit Te Kuiti and Kawhia districts during June, and the member will notify the public bodies when he gets definite information. A large number of matters of local interest has been brought under th« notice of various departments by the member during the past few days, including tie extension of Post Office facilities at T<jj Kuiti.
