Mrs Wayne went south by Thursday morning's express on her way to Dunedin, to see her father, and will probably be away about three weeks.

Mr Piggot is taking services for the first time in Te Kuiti to-morrow, and arrangements are being made by which it is hoped that Church of England services may be held monthly in all the schools in the parish. The Rev. A. H. Colvile is coming on the 10th June to hold a ten days' mission in Te Kuiti. Mr Colvile is a very powerful mission preacher of wide experience. Besides mission work in the Church in England, he preached in a mission held throughout South Africa after the war, and lately throughout New Zealand. Even in the largest churches in Auckand, such as St. Matthew's, many additional seats are required when it is known he will be there. He seems equally able to hold the attention of hundreds of men in a large hall as of the children in a crowded church. In the recent Church of England mission held in Wellington, it is said, the crowds were greater than at any other meetings ever held in that city, and this not because of the eloquence of the missioners but because of their earnest, quiet, direct mode of speaking. There will be meetings for men, women and children separately, as well as those which are open to all, and at which all will be welcomed. The mission services will be fully advertised in this paper. We understand that, in view of the near completion of the railway station, the Mayor has communicated with the Minister of Railways suggesting the adoption of the Borough lighting and water supply as soon as they are available. On page 7 appears another short story entitled "Held by Ransom, or the Bandits of Birmingham." At the first meeting of the newlyelected Auckland Harbour Board held this week, Mr J. H. Gunson was elected Chairman.

Mr J. R. Graham has in to-day's advertising columns a notice of clearing sale on account of Mrs Donnelly, who is leaving Te Kiuti. The goods are all nearly new and in good order, and the auctioneer's instructions are to effect a clearance There is a very fine piano, sewing machine, etc., as detailed in advertisement.
