Mangaroa.

Mangaroa has been experiencing rough weather for the past week, and rain is still falling. The roads have started to get bad, and in places that have recently been patched are almost impassable. Waggons still continue to stream in with the winter stores from Ongarue, but in another week or two will have to cease altogether.

Mangaroa is assuming a changed appearance. J use now labour is in demand, especially among the carpenters. Buildings are going up fast, | i the large two-storied building of Mr I : Aves being nearly completed, as well || as oiher buildings. With the ap>l | preaching railway to Ohura, Mangaa J roa will bceome a large and important '<! | town.

The neat little launch built at Toi Toi bridge is completed, and will be launched this week. Mr W. Coe, the engineer, told me the owners are going to give a monster picnic on the river some three miles from the bridge, when the launch will run up and down with the picnicers. Great credit is due to Mr Coe for his workmanship in turning out so line a craft. This is the firrst launch built in the Ohura, and it is anticipated another will be commenced very shortly.
