FIRE AT TE AWAMUTU.

COTTAGE DESTROYED.

By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. Te Awamutu, This Day. A disastrous fire occurred here last night, and a four-roomed house, the property of the Railway Department, was burned to the ground. The fire started in the kitchen, but the actual origin is unknown. It was not discovered until it had a good hold of the building. It quickly spread through the whole building, rendering it impossible to save anything. The adjoining trees caught lire, and threatened the residence of the atationmaster, and but for the direction of the wind this would have been destroyed. W. G. Camp, a railway porter, lost practically all his furniture. It is understood the buikling and furniture are insured, but the amounts are unknown.
