AWAKING COLLIE CLUB.

SUCCESSFUL MEETING. The fifth annual meeting of the above Club was held on Mr W. D. Thomson's Farm on Monday and Tuesday last. The arrangements were most complete, and rafiected great credit on the officers and committee of the Club. Everything wont off without a hitch, and Mr E. A. Pnynter, the Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, is to be highly complimented for the splendid arrangements made. Other members of the Committee that worked hard towards the success of the meeting were Messrs W. F. Kelly, J. Scott, L. Leach, H. Lett, F. Carrington, C. Ward, G. Lake, D. McCormick, and J. E. C. Harrison. Mr J. C. Morton, of Waverley, Secretary of the New Zealand Dog Trial Association, acted as Judge, and was pleased with the nature of the work. Mr G. Dixon, as Dog Steward and Mr W. F. Kelly, Grand Marshall, and Mr. D. Cross, Timekeeper, contributed very much to the success of the work.

The popularity of these trials, and the spirit of competition shown was evidenced by the fact that there were 109 entries for the four events. The work done by the various dogs reflected great credit on the competitors, and certainly goes to show the pains taken in training and procuring a good class of dogs. Trials such as these should be encouraged in all sheep-farming districts. They tend to make the men looking after the stock, more patient and painstaking in the working of stock. Messrs Harrison Bros.' silver cup was won by Mr B. Lett's Guile, with 39 points, Mr J. Scott's King running second with 38 points. Mr a. T. Batley's silver tea service was won by Mr W. McCormick's King. Following are the results: — Class 1., heading (about 440 yards), bring back and yard; time allowed, 15 minutes. —Mr D. McCormick's King, 20 points 1, Mr J. Scott's King, 19 points, 2, Mr JR. Black's Snook, 18 points, 3. Class 11., driving and yarding competition with two dogs (about 300 yards) ; time allowed 15 minutes. — Mr J. Scott's King and Bob, 22 points 1, Mr R. Black's Nip and Snook, 18 points, 2; Mr T. G. Kensington's Fly and Roy, 1(5 points, 3.
