MANIAPOTO RUGBY UNION

A meeting of the above Union was i held in the "Chronicle" office on Thursday evening last. Mr E. C. ; Falvvasser (President) in the chair. ; The minutes of the last annual gener- i al meeting were read, and confirmed. ; Mr A. S. Gresham wa9 unanimously j appointed Secretary for the ensuing . season. Several delegates spoke eulogistically of the good work done in the past by Mr Oresham. The statement of accounts wa3 read and adopted. Correspondence. A letter was received from the secretary of the South Auckland Rugby Union stating that the annual general meeting of the Union would .bo held at Te Aroha on April 24th, und asking that delegates be sent. It was resolved that delegates be sent, and the following were appointed: Messrs Ealwasser, Lusk, Thorp and Matthew. The appointment of officers was deferred until the next meeting of the Union. . , , , A report of the South Auckland Union's last season's working was received, together with their balance sheet. A handsome trophy was donated to the Union, the allotting of the trophybeing left in the hands of the Committee. Several accounts were passed for payment. It was resolved to hold the next meeting on Wednesday, April 2Hth, at 7.30 p.m. in the "Chronicle" office. A hearty laugh was raised at the complimentary dinner to the lion. I). Buddo, at Waimate, South Canterbury. The Minister was explaining that it was not the dullest boy who are put farming nowadays; they were put to something else. At this point the Minister was interrupted with the remark by one of the audience, "No, we make politicians of them."
