OBITUARY.
MR. F. C. SHAW
It is with deep regret that we report the death, at a comparatively early age. of Mr F. C. Shaw, Clerk to the Waitomo County Council. Mr Shaw, who had been suffering for some months past from a tubercular ailment, was given three months' leave of absence about a month ago, and went to the Waikato Sanitorium, near Cambridge, where it was hoped he would recover his usual health. The disease from the first took a serious aspect, and after nearly a month at the sanatorium Mr Shaw was removed to a private hospital, where he died on Monday morning. Mr Shaw, who was a Freemason, was 27 years of age, and came out to the Dominion from .Ireland about 7 years ago. He was first employed in one of the Auckland banks, and subsequently transferred to the National Bank at Paeroa. Finding that work too confining, he became assistant clerk to the Ohinemuri County, from where he came a3 County Clerk to Te Kuiti about IS months ago. Deceased was generally popular amongst the many settlers and townspeople who came in contact with him, and the news of his death although not altogether unexpected, came as a severe shock to his many friends. Mr Shaw came of an old Irish family, and his eldest brother is manager of one of the largest banks in Belfast. Mr Shaw had one relative in New Zealand, a brother.
