MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki and Board was held on Tuesday at New Plymouth. Recommended for approval. J. Robinson to W. Sangster. section , : 14, block 9 Totoro. Recommended for approval. N. Olsen to G. I. Samuels, section S, block 2, Ohura. —Approved. A. E. K. Persons to P. M'Lean and H. Parker, section 3, block 12, Aria. —Approved. P. S. Senior to R. J. Montgomery and W. H. Humphries, section 2, blockk S, Waro. —Resolved that board cannot deal with application until Mr Senior has resided two years on the section. H. E. M'lvor to C. W. Drake, section S, block 11, Ohura.—Approved. G. W. Taylor to G. W. Taylor and G. Corbett, section 13, block 11, Opaku.—Recommened for approval. T. E. Garland to E. K. Blundell, section 16, block 5, Upper Waitara.— Approved. L. Dobson to A. G. Stewart, sections 11, 12 and 22, block 5, Ngatimaru. — Approved. E. M. Richardson and W. J. Tompkins, section 5, block 8, Ohura.—Recommended for approval. Harvey and Norm's to 11. R. N. Go'och to C. Gooch, section 5, block 15, Ngatimaru. —Approved. SUB-LEASES. S. G. Stockley to A. G. Stewart, section 40 and 42, block 6, Ngatimaru. —Approved. T. Henry to J. E. Young, sections 1 and 2, block 4, Omona. —Consideration deferred.
J. S. Buchanan to A. H. Perry, section 11 block 14, Pouatu. —Approved. R. C. Watson to S. Parkes and T. H. Brooker, section 44, block 11, Opunake.—Approved. E. Jamieson to E. Pawson, section 6, block 9, Ohura.—Approved. PROPOSED PUBLIC HALL AND LIBRARY. E. Tolme reported on the application of Waitaanga settlers for permission to erect a building on Crown Land at the junction of Waitaanga North and Tongaporutu - Mangaroa Road. —It was resolved that an area in that position having a frontage of o'i chains to Watitaanga and 31 chains to the Tongaporuto-Mangaroa road be set apart as a reserve for a public hall and library. MILLING TIMBER. With reference to the timber area on the Pouatu and Waro (s.d.), it was resolved that the board recommends the earliest opportunity be taken to dispose of, in suitable areas, the milling timber upon the sections. THE FREEHOLD. Messrs Malone, Anderson and Johnstone applied for freehold of the following sections:—J. Worthington, sections 10, 11 and 12, block 4, Omona; Malone and Worthington, sections 24 and 26, block 4, Omona; Malone and Worthington, sections 19 and 21, block 3, Omona; C. R. Finnerty, section 5, block 11, Ngatimaru. —'The application was approved. Messrs Roy and Nicholson applied on behalf of T. Furlong for freehold of section 2, block 4, Upper Waitara. -Approved subject to the ranger's report.
H. J. Dougherty, selector of scetion IG, block 13, Ohura, applied for his lease to issue.—Agreed to accordingly. "THIRDS." J. L. Sproull and others applied for "thirds" from their sections at Otunui to be spent on Otunui North road instead of Kunerau road as proposed by Ohura County Council. —Resolved that the ranger's report on the question be approved. The Waitomo County Council wrote altering proposals for expenditure of accrued "thirds" to be spent on metalling Mokau-Ohura road near Aria township.—Deferred for ranger's report. The Okato Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of £73 10s 2d accrued "thirds." The ranger's report was read, and it was resolved that the proposals be approved with the exception of the variation proposed by the ranger, which is referred back to him for further consideration. INSPECTION OF HOLDINGS. E, Tolnie, Crown Lands Ranger, reported on the inspection of six holdings. The improvements effected amounted to £1394; required £6(10. One settler had not effected sufficient improvements. H. T. Twiss, Crown Land Ranger, reported on the inspection of seven holdings. Improvements effected £1872, required £I2oS. Five selectors were not complying with the condition of residence. —'Resolved that the usual action be taken. TARANAKI SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT ACT. Messrs Bullock and Currie wrote asking what procedure the board would adopt with regard to leases of Opaku and Carlyle University reserve to be administered under the Taranaki Scholarship Endowment Act, 1910. — It was resolved that in all future leases the board will proceed under parargaph (e) of section fi of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908 EORFEITURRE.S RESCINDED. P. 0. D. A. Cuinan wired that he had taken up his residence on section 2-5, block 11, Mapara, and appealed
against forfeiture. Resolved, that the forfeiture be rescindd and the section restored to Mr Guinan subject to the frontage between road and Mapui stream being reserved for timber purposes so long as it is required therefor. J. Maloney appealed against forfeiture of section 12, block 12, Mapara, and stated that he was now resident on the section. The ranger's report was read. —Resolved, that the forfeiture be rescinded. GENERAL.
I C. F. Kopke, lessee of section 2, | block IC, Mahoe, wrote complaining I that access to section prevented his | doing any improvements. Resolved i to inform him of proposed expendij ture on the Tirohanga road. | Mesrs Mair and Co. wrote asking the board to reconsider its decision not to grant them the upper swampy end of the section.—The resolved that it saw no reason to alter its previous decision. A. E. Bloomlield applied for the board to reconsider his application for section 17, block 4, Totoro, as an addition to his holding. —.Referred to the Commissioner. S. Smith applied to purchase closed part of Holsworthy road in his farm on Mangorei road.- -Resolved that the ranger's report be obtained, also as to access to Native reserve. P. M. Long applied for a yearly lease of sections 2 and 30, block 4, town of Wangamomona.—Resolved that a year-to-year tenancy be granted subject to termination of one month's notice. N. Duller applied for a lease of reserve of 100 acres adjoining his section 2, block 2, Heao. —Resolved to obtain ranger's report as to probable value for leasing. J. Buchanan wrote claiming an allowance for attending meeting of board on January 21.1911, in response to a summons of the board. —Referred to the Commissioner. Mr Jenkins was informed that the board saw no present objection to bis proposal to subdivide sections 41 and 42, block 11, Ngaire. A schedule of sections in arrear with rent to 31-12-10 was laid on the table. The following plans were laid on the table:—Deviation of TongaporutuMangaroa road through section 3, block 6, Waro; land taken for road through section 32, block 14, Ohura; Bremer-Kirau road deviation through sections 29, 2, 3 and 4, block 15, Ngatimaru. —lt was resolved- that the titles be amended accordingly.
