"Life" for April is another capital number. Stories, articles and illustrations all combine to give an excellent sixpennorth. "The Day Insurgent" is one of 0. Henry's last stories, told with all his intimate knowiedge of New York life. "The Man Who Laughed" is a fine story of blindness testing love. "What are Automatic Pistols?" will be read with interest, describing, as it does, those deadly and formidable weapons which will ultimately supplant the revolver. "Scientific Management in Business" is another suggestive article, telling how science is revolutionising daily toil. Laying 2700 bricks a day instead of 1000 has been brought about, not by "speeding up," but by reducing the motions of the bricklayer from eighteen to five. Altogether the April "Life" is a good all-round number.
