Tin: prolonged drought has row broken up, and a good deal of rain fell here during last week. This was appreciated more particularly by those who were depending upon tanks for their water supply. Bush fires in the vicinity have now all died clown. A local combined handicap tennis tournament was held on the local court on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for M iss Madge MeNcight and B. W. Hayson. As this is Miss McNeighCs first season at tennis, she is to be congratulated on her very creditable performance. The prizes consisted of two trophies presented by the club, following are details of the play, 50 up:—First round —Miss McNeight and Hayson. receive 10, beat Mrs ' liayson and Seymour, receive 10, 50— ! 44; Mrs Worm arid McCracken, scratch, beat Mrs Buck and D. Seymour, receive 18, oO —14; Mrs Griffin and Buck, receive 10, beat Miss McCracken and Ellis, scratch, 50—13 ; Mrs Fetch and Worm, receive 20, beat Mrs Irvine and Griffin, receive 25, 50 —-12; Miss Tomlinson and Miss Johnson, receive 12, beat Mrs Ellis and Charteris, receive 10, 50 —38. Second round. Miss McNeight and Hayson beat Mrs Griffin and Buck, 50—48; Mrs Worm and McCracken beat Miss Tomlinson and Mrs Johnson, 50—13. Third round. —Miss McNeight and Hayson beat .Mrs Fetch and Worm, 50 liayson beat Mrs Worm and McCracken, 50 —3-1. A tennis social is to be held in the hall on Friday evening next. As several vocal items are to be contributed, a really enjoyable evening should be spent.
