Macartney immediate'y started to punish the bowling of Llewellyn and Sincailr, hitting 56 runs in 35 minutes. Schwarz then came on to bowl and delivered a fulipitcher, which Macartney hit to Nourse on the boundary. He had hit seven fourers. Trumper started slowly, but the hundred appeared in sixty-five minutes. Play proceeded quietly without special incident to 134 when Bardsley was bowled by Nourse. The next ball proved fatal to Ransford, Nourse clean bowling him. Trumper continued to play extraordinarily careful cricket, taking sixty-five minutes for fifty runs. He and Kelleway carried out their bat, scoring the required number of runs to win. Scores:— AUSTRALIA. First Innings ... 364 Second Innings.
