WEDDING.

RYAN—PIERCE. On Tuesday last the marriage of Mrs J'ierce to Mr C. J. Ryan, J.P., was solemnised in the Soman Catholic Church, Taumarunui, by the Rev. Father Molioy. Few events have excited so much interest in the social world of Tauma.runui and district as the wedding of this popular pair, and a large assemblage gathered at the church to witness the ceremony. The bride looked charming in dove-grey crepe de-chine, which, with a hat to match, set oil" her tall and graceful figure to perfection. The bridesmaids, Miss liyan and Miss Simmons, were dressed in pale blue silk, with blackhats; and Mrs Fearon, the bride's mother, wore a handsome blue silk dress, with black silk coat. Mrs Curtayne wore black silk, with cream lace. On leaving the church, showers of rice were thrown over the happy pair. The wedding breakfast was served at Mrs Simmons' Central House, where the newly-married

couple received the warm congratulations of their friends. Father Molioy proposed the toast of the bride and bridergoom, responded to by the latter, who next rendered a like compliment to the bridesmaids. This was replied to by Mr J. L. Ryan (the best man), after which Mr C'urtanye proposed "The Ladies," coupled with the bride's parents. This was responded to by Mr Simmons. Messrs Cullen and C, E. Fearon (groomsmen) paid a similar compliment to the ladies, and Mr Simmons proposed the health of absent friends. The fine bridal cake (made by Mr Corringham) was duly cut and partaken of. A social was held in the evening, at which many guests were present from the Ohura and other districts.
